Brisbane 2032: the construction program, tracked

Status. Principal architects appointed; field-of-play and location resolved; design continuing with fan experience, precinct and transport interfaces under development.

Delivery. Initial works began 1 June 2026. Two joint ventures are in competitive Early Contractor Involvement; the final builder follows the ECI process, with main construction targeted from 2027.

Outlook. Advancing but high-risk. Site and design leadership are established; cost, transport, park interfaces, ground conditions and schedule integration remain critical.

Status. Design team appointed; design progressing in parallel with contractor procurement.

Delivery. Site possession and initial works from 1 September 2026. Four contractors shortlisted in July; a two-party ECI and preferred-contractor selection are expected in early 2027.

Outlook. Advancing. Heritage integration, pools technology, temporary seating, the roof solution and simultaneous procurement and design are the key controls.

Status. Design collective appointed. Early works and arena design activities began after the 2025 Ekka.

Delivery. Project partners Lendlease and the RNA. Delivery combines precinct works, residential construction, showgrounds operations and conversion planning.

Outlook. Moderate-to-high interface risk. Strong partners and design mobilisation are positive; the constrained operating site, event calendar and conversion program require detailed staging.

Status. Site investigations under way from March 2026; commercial and early-works activity progressing with the private sector.

Delivery. The 2026–27 budget provides $45.6 million over two years for early works and a competitive market process.

Outlook. Earlier maturity than the core venues. Private finance, mixed-use feasibility and the Cross River Rail and precinct interfaces are the principal uncertainties.

Status. One of the ten upgraded venues; project validation and investment decisions still required.

Outlook. Planning stage. Scope control and venue-operation staging will determine schedule pressure.
