Construction Australia

Privacy policy

How we handle your personal information, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 10 September 2026

Who we are

Construction Australia operates a directory of construction businesses across Australia, and Construction Australia Jobs, a job board for the industry (see “The job board” below). In this policy, “we” and “us” means Construction Australia Connect, based in Brisbane, Queensland.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect, and why

If you create an account: your first and last name, email address, job title (optional), and your password in encrypted form. We need this to identify you, secure your account, and let you manage a business listing.

If you send an enquiry to a business: your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message. We collect this for one purpose — to pass it to the business you chose to contact. It is not shared with any other business, and we do not sell it.

If you manage a business listing: the business details you enter, which are published on the directory. Business contact details published on a listing are intended to be public.

Automatically: a session cookie so you stay logged in, and standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) used for security and to keep the service running. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

The job board

Construction Australia Jobs at jobs.constructionaustralia.com.au is our job board. We run its website; the accounts, applications and job data behind it are held on a specialist job board platform provided to us by an Australian company, which processes that information only on our instructions.

If you create a candidate account: your name and email address, and either a password (stored encrypted), a sign-in link we email you, or a Google or LinkedIn sign-in. We confirm your email address before the account is active. You can add a profile — a headline, location, work history, education, skills, languages, a photo and a CV. Your profile is private unless you choose to make it public.

If you apply for a job: your name, email address, a cover note if you write one, and your CV if you attach one. We collect this for one purpose — to pass it to the employer whose job you applied for. You can apply without an account; we then email you a link to confirm and manage that application.

If you set up job alerts: your email address and the filters you choose. We only send alerts after you confirm the subscription by email, and every alert carries a link to change or stop them.

If you save jobs or message an employer: we keep the saved list and the conversation against your account.

If you post a job as an employer: your name, work email address and the company and job details you enter, which are published on the board. Job posting is paid: card details are entered directly with Stripe and we never see or store them. Notes an employer writes about an applicant are kept with that application.

Automatically:a session cookie so you stay signed in, a cookie that records your cookie choice, bot protection from Cloudflare, and standard server logs. If you accept analytics cookies in the board’s cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand how the board is used; the same Google Analytics property covers this website, so a visit that moves between the two is counted once. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set.

Automated processing of CVs. If you upload a CV, the platform reads it with AI services to pick out details such as skills and work history, and uses them with your profile to suggest jobs that may suit you. It is not used to rank or screen you for employers.

Who can see job board information

  • Applications — including your CV and cover note — are visible to the employer whose job you applied for, and to our platform administrators. They are not shared with other employers.
  • Candidate profiles are not browsable by employers. An employer only sees what you send them in an application.
  • Job postings and company details are public by design.
  • Our platform provider and its own service providers process all of the above on our behalf. They do not use it for their own purposes and do not share it with any other job board.

How long we keep job board information

  • Your account and profile: while your account is open. You can delete your account yourself from your account settings; that removes your profile, CV, saved jobs and alerts at the same time.
  • Applications: an employer keeps an application for up to 12 months after the role closes, so they can come back to candidates for similar roles. You can withdraw an application while the role is open, which deletes it.
  • Job alerts: until you stop them.
  • Employer job postings and applicant notes:while the employer’s account is active, and for up to 12 months after a role closes.

Where job board information is stored

Our platform provider stores and processes job board information primarily in the United States, with email sent from Australia and the United States. This means information you give the job board is held outside Australia. Our agreement with the provider requires it to protect your information to the standard of this policy and to act only on our instructions.

Who can see your information

  • Enquiriesare visible only to the owner and administrators of the business you contacted, and to our platform administrators. Staff with an “editor” role on that business cannot see them.
  • Your name and job title are visible to our platform administrators, and to other members of a company team you belong to. They are not shown publicly and are not browsable by other users.
  • Your email address is visible to our platform administrators (for example, when reviewing a claim on a business listing). It is not shown to other users.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries: 12 months. Archived enquiries are deleted automatically once they pass that window.
  • Account information: while your account is open. Ask us to close it and we will delete your personal information, except anything we must keep by law (for example, records relating to payments).
  • Business listing information may remain on the directory after an account closes, since it describes a business rather than a person.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run the service. They may process personal information on our behalf, and only for that purpose:

  • Supabase — database and account authentication, hosted in Sydney, Australia.
  • Vercel — website hosting and delivery.
  • Resend — sending our transactional emails.
  • Stripe — subscription payments and employer job-posting payments. Card details are entered directly with Stripe; we never see or store them.
  • Cloudflare — DNS, network protection, and hosting of the job board website.
  • Our job board platform provider— candidate accounts, applications, job alerts, employer accounts and messaging. An Australian company; processing is primarily in the United States. See “The job board” above.

Some of these providers are overseas, which means your information may be stored or processed outside Australia.

Marketing emails

We only send marketing email if you ticked the optional box asking for it. That is separate from agreeing to our terms, and you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any such email. Transactional messages — payment notices, enquiry alerts, moderation decisions — are part of the service and are not marketing.

Security

Access to personal information is restricted at the database level, so a user account can only reach the records it is entitled to. Passwords are stored encrypted, connections are encrypted in transit, and administrator actions are recorded in an audit log.

Accessing, correcting or deleting your information

You can view and correct most of your information from your dashboard. To request a copy of what we hold, ask for a correction, or ask us to delete your account, contact us at hello@constructionaustralia.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable period, normally within 30 days.

Job board account holders can update or delete their account from the board’s account settings. To withdraw an application or ask what an employer holds about you, contact us and we will pass the request to the employer.

Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at hello@constructionaustralia.com.au and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. See also our terms of use.
